Band Party
Last night we finally had a long planned band party. The band has been trying to do a get together since like summer and it finally came together. Everyone got to attend and even parents/spouses came (as in teenager's parents and adult's spouses). Everybody brought something and we spent the evening eating, drinking, and gossipping. It was a total blast. One of our singers is never shy about expressing her opinions and there was much laughter as a result. She broke all three rules of polite conversation and we discussed work, religion, AND politics!
It was actually pretty comical that after the initial gathering around the food that the teenagers went into one of the other rooms to hang out away from the adults. Of course, they couldn't be bothered to turn a light on. The younger kids were playing Wii while all the adults sat around the table putting dents in bottles of wine. It was a good time for all.
In other interesting news, I got an email literally out of the blue from one of my old band mates yesterday. It was great to hear from him. I've invited him to audition for the band if he's interested since we really could use a musician with his talents. He sings, plays guitar, bass, and drums. And he's an all around great guy with a commitment to the Lord. We'll see what happens.
I'm off from work today and tomorrow since the boys are off from school (that's a whole other rant for a later day). I'm getting some things done around the house and then next week I get to dive back into the work craziness. Later all!
