Because it Christmas..

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! In the Casa de Franco, despite being on a budget this year, we had a tree full of gifts. Everyone got what they wanted (or at leasted wanted what they got!)

Grasshopper got Transformers, slippers, a Hess truck, DDR, and Nerf guns. Christopher was in skater heaven with a rad jacket from CCS, Skull Candy ear buds, a hat with long tassels (which he wears ALL THE TIME), a model skate partk, and Tek Deck skateboards. He also managed to get enough cash to buy a real board of his own.

Ellen and I got lots of stuff we needed to be cyclists. I got the lady a bike stand to hold the bike up while you work on it (and yes, she very much loved it) as well as a great book on Eagle Scouts. She got me a new helmet, a windbreaker in screaming yellow (indeed the color stated on the product), and a bike computer. I actually loaded out my bike with the computer and took a ride yesterday with my new helmet and jacket! And, of course, I had to put the bike on the new bike stand in order to fit it with a computer.

All in all we had a great day. We spent Christmas eve with my parents and enjoyed the Italian seafood extraveganza in a high decibel environment. We spent Christmas day with Ellen's brother. We went to his place for the first time in a few years. Her nephew actually cooked! He made an awesome beef roast. Ellen really liked the mashed potatoes with home made gravy (with a healthy dose of wine in it). All in all we had a pleasant day.

Ellen made some most excellent (and evilly delicious) cookies this year, including the best cutout cookies ever! And so in honor of these delectable Christmas treats, enjoy this video. I thought of it every time I ate one of the cookies.

All done!

I'm done with all of my course work for the semester. Quizzes are taken, papers submitted, nothing left to do but wait for the grades. I'm looking forward to doing some mindless reading over the next couple of weeks before starting up again in January.

In cooler news, Grasshopper participated in Merry TubaChristmas again this year. There were about 200 tuba/euphonium/baritone/sousaphone players that just showed up, practiced for about 2 hours, then played for an hour. Very cool. Even better than that, Grasshopper got his face on the local cable news! Check out the link below. Grasshopper is the kid in the red shirt with the green and white hat. That boy's been in the newspaper (in several cities), on TV, and now on the internet! That boy's going to be a star someday, I tell you.

Figured it out

These last couple of days have not been good to this blog. First there was the whole thing with Haloscan wanting to charge me money so I deleted the code and all over 4000 comments everyone has made since I put it in like 3 years ago. Oh well, that's really not that important. No one goes back and reads those old comments anyway right?

Then today I go to the site and I have these ugly boxes all over the place that my Photobucket account is inactive and there's no pictures on the site. Crap! So I update my email address for Photobucket (it was still the one I had from my dialup days) and that's fixed.

Then I finally figured out the code I needed to insert to put a Comments link on the page so it looks normal again. So other than there being no comments on previous posts, I'm now free of Haloscan and able to blog in blissful freeness of not paying anything.

Probably more to come soon as I have 1 week left in the semester. All the work is done but one paper (collaborative effort) and 1 quiz which I will take Sunday. I believe I have A's in both courses by raw grades but rumor has it the instructors grade on a curve. I'd love to have A's in both courses. Wish me luck.

Where did the comments go

So Haloscan decided that it's no longer going to be free so since I'm not going to pay for it as a commenting engine, I deleted the code. In the mean time, I need to figure out how to set up comments again via blogger so that it works properly again. In the meantime, if you click on the time below the post, you can open it in a new window where you can comment. Fix it when I can.

Stupid Haloscan.

Where does the time go?

Just thought I better put something up here. Man, it's been nuts! At work we have all of the end of year craziness of members trying to get all of their benefits in via the web before 12/31 or they lose out. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, eh?

This semester ends 12/23 so I need to get two papers written and 2 quizzes completed and I want to finish on the 20th. Which gives me a week and a half. Oh, and one of the papers is a colaboration and the rest of the team plans on reading the case this weekend.

Most of the holiday shopping is done, but not all and I don't feel like going out to do it. But I must.

So much going on right now my head should be exploding. But strangely, I'm not too stressed. Perhaps I'm just in denial. Who knows?

Got an email from the singer in my band on haitus. There may be some good news soon on the band front. We'll just have to wait and see.

Need to go and check on my online courses now. Rock on all, rock on.
